Abstract:The second “SOLO” event, following the first one held in Hong Kong, invites seven Chinese opera superstars from different regions and schools. The artists will display the essence and characteristics of their specialized genres in both traditional and contemporary operas combining Chinese and Western elements.

The objective of Contemporary Legend Theatre (CLT) delivers the traditional arts, creates new aesthetics and draws a new audience to Chinese Opera. The event of "SOLO" continues the 1st "SOLOS―Experimenting Traditional Chinese Operas" organized by Zuni lcosahedron, HK in 2002. In the second "SOLO" event, CLT invites Chinese opera superstars from different regions and schools, the artists will display the essences and characters of operas by employing the traditional and contemporary Chinese and Western elements for creative experiments. They will perform 15 minute-solo of traditional Chinese Opera and creative contemporary Chinese operas. The event has a flavor of artistic competition. It delivers an important message of passing on the traditional Chinese Arts, and seeks new paths of forms and aesthetics for future Chinese operas.

A 30-minute dialogue will be held for exchanging ideas between audiences, performers and scholars after each performance. Also, there are one academic seminars open to the public. The speakers are distinguished scholars of traditional Chinese operas and contemporary arts from Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Mainland China.
