Lee Men / Melody Designer

Born in Qingado City of Shandong Province, Lee Men started to learn Peking opera at the age of six, and jinghu, a high-pitched two-string fiddle at the age of 11. Later Lee joined the China Peking Opera Theatre and oversaw the musical department of the Kuo Kung Chinese Opera Company. He was also the leader of the China Peking Opera Theatre Orchestra and a council member of the Chinese Cultural Department, and was awarded the best string instrument player in the nation. Apart from playing music on the stage, Lee has also designed the singing style of numerous plays including: Liu Changyu and Li Guang’s Road in the Snow; Li Ping’s Hundred Flower Princess of the Dalian Peking Opera Company; Death at the Ma Kuai Hill by Zhang Jing of Tianjin Youth Peking Opera Troupe; Diao Li’s Li Hui Niang; Ma Zu: Goddess of the Sea, The Warring Stage of Chun-Qiu which won a golden Bell Award in 1989, Meng Li Jung, Tales of Water Margin, Red Child, and Dragon Ball of the Kuo Kuang Chinese Opera Company.
