Tai Li-wu as Caliban
Tai Li-wu trained at the Fu Hsing Dramatic Arts Academy where he specialised in wuchou (military comic) roles. He performs with crisply executed stylised movements, stunning martial arts routines, and a handsome stage presence. A veteran actor on stage, he has crossed over from his Peking opera specialism to other performing art forms, such as dance and drama, all winning critical acclaim. He is currently a member of the Kuo Kuang Chinese Opera Company, Contemporary Legend Theatre (CLT) and Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre. His outstanding repertoire includes the Peking operas At the Crossroads, Wreaking Havoc in the Dragon Palace, The Monkey King, The Monkey King Borrows a Magic Fan. He participated in such productions as The Life of Mandala and Dance of the Senses, as well as in CLT’s The Kingdom of Desire, The Hidden Concubine, Animals Festival and A Play of Brother and Sister.
