Abstract：The selection of the arias spans from Roméo et Juliette by C. Gounod in the 19th century to West Side Story by L. Bernstein in the 20th century and closes with R. Wagner's Tristan and Isolde, conveying to the audience the spirit of Romanticism in the 19th century and that of the modern style.

即使非莎士比亞的文學迷，大家也都熟悉的《羅密歐與茱麗葉》被台北愛樂歌劇坊搬上音樂廳了。而在非劇院舞台的條件限制下，我們還是努力地安排了特殊的表現方式：從傳統的劇本中，挑選出幾個最有名的場景。導演鄭智文另外設計了不同時空、不同角色關係的故事，既是比喻，也是對照。

選曲時也是煞費苦心：除了古諾的法文歌劇《羅密歐與茱麗葉》代表著典雅的時代性格。有激情的義大利寫實歌劇《丑角》，有二十世紀的著名音樂劇《西城故事》，表現出現代的風格，更選了歌劇史上最偉大的愛情劇─華格納的《崔斯坦與伊索德》中第二幕愛的二重唱及伊索德的〈愛之死〉，描繪出的是愛侶間「意與象的世界」及十九世紀浪漫主義的精神。
