Adapted from Shakespeare’s work, The Tempest is co-directed by world famous film director TSUI Hark and WU Hsing-Kuo, with its stage and costume designed by Tim Yip, the Oscar winning designer. Merged with western elements and traditional Beijing Opera, Kun Qu, and aboriginal dance music of Taiwan, The Tempest is performed by seventeen musicians and twenty actors, including WU Hsing-Kuo, CHU Sheng-Li, SHENG Chien, LIU Chia-hou, etc. The total length is about two hours and twenty minutes. It was a marvelous theatrical spectacle with its gorgeous stage-effects, enchanting musical of Chinese drama, and wondrous characters when it premiered in the National Theater in Taipei, 2004.
