Lin Hsiu-wei / Producer / Choreographer

Lin Hsiu-wei is the choreographer and artistic director of Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre. She graduated from the Dance Performance Department of the Chinese Cultural College in Taipei, Taiwan. She was a principal dancer with the Cloud Gate Dance Theatre from 1975 to 1985. In 1986, Lin was invited to perform the solo dance Nu-Ua at the American Dance Festival. In 1987 she received a Fulbright Scholarship and studied in New York for half a year.

Lin tries to be free from all the traditional and ballet trainings as well as from techniques of modern dance. She aims to go deep inside her own body and to find her own world of dancing. Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre was founded on the basis of this spirit. An internationally renowned dance company, the Tai Gu Tales Dance Theatre has been invited to perform at various festivals worldwide.

Since 1986, Lin has been the producer and administrative director of Contemporary Legend Theatre, in charge of repertoire management and choreography. Until present, she has produced fifteen plays, including an adaptation of Medea, and many of them were invited to perform at international festivals.
