In line with traditional Chinese values and xiqu conventions, this adaptation of Hamlet presents a chaste queen, a resolute prince, and a happy ending with zero fatality. Poetic justice is acheived without sacraficing the virtue of forgiveness. Also added to Shakespeare are physical comedy, martial art, and the worship of Mazu. The production is part of the 1997 Taipei Drama Festival.
